NuMu: A Real Museum

Short Film, 30 minutes (2018)

In 2017, Guatemala’s first and only contemporary art museum—also the world’s smallest—got on the road from Guatemala City to Los Angeles thanks to an international Kickstarter community of 492 backers.

The replica building of el Nuevo Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (NuMu) opened to the public on LACMA’s campus as part of the exhibition "A Universal History of Infamy."

This short film tells the story of Jessica Kairé and Stefan Benchoam, the artists behind NuMu, and the programming they created in this egg-shaped museum since its founding in 2012 with artists such as Joaquín Orellana, Regina José Galindo, Carolina Caycedo and the educational institution CAP of Guatemala Cit to promote contemporary art in the country.

I directed and produced this film.
